PETERSEN MEDIA- Back in his traditional Roth Motorsports colors on Saturday night at the Stockton Dirt Track, Kyle Hirst tallied an eighth place finish with the King of the West Series.

“We had an okay night,” Hirst said. “The track slicked up quite a bit, and we were just a little off, but I can’t thank Todd, Jeff, and everyone involved with this Roth Motorsports team enough for all of their continued hard work and support.”

After a tough month of July, Hirst looked forward to the calendar changing to August, and a late qualifying draw resulted in a 13th quick effort in time trials, just narrowly missing the heat race inversion.

“We laid down a pretty good qualifying lap going out last, but there was not much left and we just missed the inversion,” he added.

Lining up in the third row of his heat race, the Elk Grove, CA native turned Chico, CA resident had his elbows up as he climbed into the third spot at the finish line, putting his machine in the sixth row for the feature event.

“We were good in the dash, but unfortunately we did not make the dash, so we started mid-pack, but that didn’t bother us too much,” he said.

With the surface slick from top to bottom, Hirst got off to a nice start, as he worked his way into the Top-10, but then he stalled out, as he searched around for any sort of grip he could find.

Getting into the eight spot, Hirst Battled with Dominic Scelzi and Brent Kaeding as they battled inside the Top-Ten.

When the checkered flew on the event Hirst brought his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle machine across the line in the eighth spot.

“We were just a little too free in the feature, and we weren’t able to really make up a ton of ground,” Hirst commented. “The track was racy, and we were able to get some spots, and now we have a little break with the King of the West Series, so we will do our homework a little bit and get ready for the Outlaws to come into town.”

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2013.
