PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Tampa, FL, Terry McCarl claimed his fourth career King of the 360’s title in what was his first weekend of action piloting the Destiny Motorsports No. 4 entry.

“Man, I just love East Bay Raceway Park and I am really happy to win this race again,” an excited Terry McCarl said. “I think I am one of the only drivers still competing who knew Ronald Laney, his girlfriend, and even his dog, so to win this race in his honor for a fourth time is really something special.”

The three-day extravaganza got underway on Thursday night, and the Iowa native got his week kicked off by storming to a heat race win aboard the MonDak Portables/Ft. Union Supply and Trading/SnowPlow.com backed machine. Sitting eighth in points heading into the feature, TMAC would line up in the fourth row for the opening night feature event.

Showing just why he loves ‘The Clay By the Bay’ so much, McCarl would work his way up to the top spot as he battled with the likes of Mark Smith, and Cory Eliason late in the race. Sealing a tire in the latter stages of the feature, McCarl would drop a couple of positions but still closed out his debut with Destiny Motorsports on the podium with his third place finish.

Returning to action on Friday night, a hungry McCarl looked to be even better as he looked to score more event points to position himself well for Saturday night’s finale. Gridding the field from the third starting position in his heat race, McCarl would grab one position aboard the Bosma Poultry/Simplot/STC machine as his second place finish placed him 13th on the starting grid.

In what would be a non-stop feature event, McCarl flexed his muscle on this night as he scratched and clawed his way forward earning valuable points with each and every move he made. Running a very strong race, McCarl would cap his night with a nice charge to sixth

Sitting fourth in King of the 360’s points heading into the finale, Lady Luck played hard to get as the six pill lined him up in the third row for the 40-lap feature event as he looked to become the first ever back-to-back winner of the race.

On a very racy surface when the feature event rolled around, McCarl wasted no time getting to the front as he quickly got to Mark Smith and began putting the pressure on for the top spot.

Biding his time and continuing to run in second, McCarl would make a big move to try and overtake the top spot only to see his advances countered putting him back to second.

Sticking with Smith, TMAC would go all in on the last lap as he would stalk the leader into turns one and two before making his move coming to the checkered flag and making his fourth event win memorable as it brought the crowd to their feet and set off quite the victory lane celebration.

“My guys really worked hard all night to give me a great car, and I knew we would have to be pretty good with the way this track constantly changes,” McCarl said. “We have some great partners on this car that let us come down here, and it is great to get a win for Rick and Barb Rogers after we just put this deal together a couple of months ago. It’s not over until it’s over, and I hope the fans enjoyed that one.”
