Kyle Hirst Finishes Third at Mark Forni Classic
(Petersen Media): Making a rare appearance with the Civil War Series on Saturday night, Kyle Hirst would have a strong night as he finished in the third spot during the 10th Annual Mark Forni Classic in Placerville, CA.
“With our other team being in Knoxville, IA for the Nationals we had a bit of a different crew in Placerville, and they did an outstanding job,” Kyle Hirst. “It was a fun race on a fun track and I gave Carson (Macedo) and Jonathan (Allard) everything I had.”
Besting the 29-car field in time trials, Hirst would then finish in the fourth spot during his heat race and earn a berth in the Dash by way of his qualifying efforts. Finding himself with the five-pill, the Chico, CA driver would finish fourth and grid the field from the second row.
When the 30-lap A-Main went green, Hirst would engage in a battle with Jonathan Allard and Carson Macedo as the trio raced wheel-to-wheel chasing after the lead duo.
Putting his Roth Enterprises entry anywhere he could on the track, Hirst would get by Cory Eliason just by the half way point to move into fourth, as he continued to race with Macedo and Allard.
The 20th lap saw race leader, Sean Becker, get up over the cushion in turns one and two and as this happened the door would open and Hirst would move into the third spot as the battle for the lead then became extremely exciting for the next five laps before the final caution flew on the lap 25.
Making a valid attempt on the restart, Hirst would be unsuccessful as he would take the Ed Entz checkered flag in the third position.
“It is great the get on the podium here for sure,” Hirst said. “Placerville is always so fun for me because so much of my family is able to make it out. The crowd was great, and I am very thankful Dennis and Theresa Roth let us make the trip up and have some fun.”
