PETERSEN MEDIA: In an extremely tight battle for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour championship, Kyle Hirst and the Tiner Hirst Enterprise team did what they could during Saturday night’s feature event as Hirst battled a brake issue en route to a seventh place finish.
“We had a really good car all night long at Stockton, but for some reason we keep battling a brake issue and it got us again,” Kyle Hirst said. “The nice thing is we are heading to the Northwest this week so we will get quite a few nights to see if we can’t fine tune.”
Timing the THE/Larry Davis Farms/GP Development backed No. 94 entry in second quickest in his qualifying group, the Paradise, CA driver picked up a third place finish during heat race competition.
Missing out on the Dash, Hirst moved into the 30-lap feature event where he rolled off of the starting grid from the sixth starting position. On a freshly groomed surface, Hirst would take a liking to the bottom side of the speedway as he battled hard for a podium position.
As the race moved on, Hirst and the rest of the field would see the top groove was pretty good to as Cole Macedo was making it work and getting by them. Moving upstairs, issue would see Hirst get off the racing surface and lose several positions.
Dealing with brake issues the last portion of the race, Hirst would hang on to cap his night with a seventh place finish.
“We had a little adventure there late and I think I ran a lap on the horse track,” Hirst said with a smile. “Still, good night of racing, and looking forward to this week ahead.”
The Tiner Hirst Enterprise Racing team would like to thank Tiner Hirst Enterprise, Larry Davis Farms, GP Development, Wright Process Systems, Fisher Racing Engines, SRP, Wilwood, XYZ Machine, DMI, HRP, Sway Away, Kevin Sharrah Designs, Prior Engineering, System One Pro Ignition, Sweet Manufacturing, Sway Away, Schoenfeld, Warehouse Paint, and Roseville Precision for their continued support.
