PETERSEN MEDIA- Kyle Hirst looked to be on his way to his fourth KWS win in five races, but he would come up just short and finish in the second spot as he secured his fifth consecutive podium finish with the series.

“We had a great car all night long, and I just made a mistake on the last lap, and feel terrible for everyone on this team,” Kyle Hirst said. “The guys worked hard all night long, and I let them down.”

Taking to the Stockton Dirt Track for one final race before the King of the West Series takes an extended break, Hirst would kick his night off in fine fashion, as he set the standard in time trials aboard the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle No. 83jr machine.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Chico, CA driver continued his strong night by racing his way to the win and solidifying his spot in the night’s six-lap Dash.

Luck of the draw would be on Hirst’s side on this night as the one pill would put the two-time and defending series champion on the front row of the race, and picking up the win, Hirst would put the FK Rod Ends/Weld Wheels/BMRS backed entry on the front row for the 30-lap feature event as he looked for the clean sweep on this night.

Fending off Mitchell Faccinto during the early stages of the race, Hirst would soon find himself on a torrid battle with Carson Macedo for the top spot, as the two continued to swap the top spot lap after lap.

Continuing to lead the way, a late restart would see Tyler Walker challenge Hirst up front. Taking the white flag with Walker on his rear bumper, Hirst would see his challenger use the top shelf in turns one and two, and as he entered three and four, Hirst too would go high, but he would drift up the track too much and Walker would make his move exiting turn four, as Hirst would take the checkered flag in the second position.

“It was our race to win, and I just made a mistake that cost us,” Kyle Hirst said. “A big ‘thank you’ to Dennis and Theresa Roth for continuing to give us the equipment we need to win races. We have a big race on tap this weekend and we will look to get one spot better on Saturday night.”

The Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle,  Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance, Kaeding Performance, KW Suspension, and Astro Titanium for their support in 2015.
