PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to his title hunt with the King of the West Series on Saturday night in Bakersfield, CA, Kyle Hirst would take a tough tumble on race’s opening lap that has tightened the series championship hunt with just two races to go.
“I am just extremely thankful that my guys build me a safe car, and all of my safety components did their job,” Kyle Hirst said. “I made a mistake coming to the green and off we went.”
Saturday night at Kern County Raceway Park, Kyle Hirst got his night started off by timing the Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/Roth Investments machine timed in eighth quickest in qualifying time trials.
Picking up the heat race win, the Paradise, CA driver would earn a spot in the nightly Dash where a third place finish put him in the third row to start the 30-lap feature event.
As the field came to the green flag, Hirst would admittedly get a little to high and come into contact with another competitor and it would result in him taking a very wild ride ending in the turn one fence.
Able to quickly escape the wreckage, Hirst’s night would come to a bit of an early end.
“I hate it for my guys, and for the entire Roth Motorsports team,” Kyle Hirst said. “Dennis and Teresa Roth give me a great opportunity and I know I will have two awesome cars ready to go this weekend in Hanford, CA.”
