PETERSEN MEDIA: Continuing to progress on a weekly basis, Kyle Offill would earn his first career fast time award on Friday night at Ocean Speedway before finishing ninth during the feature event.
“We got off to a really nice start on Friday night getting fast time and getting into the Dash,” Kyle Offill said. “In the feature we got into another car and knocked the nosewing down and made the car tough to drive, but we were still able to hang on and come away with a Top-10.”
22 cars would check into Ocean Speedway on Friday night, and Offill would set the bar during qualifying time trials as he earned quick time honors aboard the Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber No 2k machine.
Finishing third in his heat race, Offill would move into the six-lap Dash where a fifth place finish placed him in the third row for the 30-lap feature event on what was an immaculately prepared Ocean Speedway surface.
Settling into the fourth spot as the race came to life, contact early in the race while battling for position would get Offill’s nose wing out of whack. With the nose wing playing a pivotal role in keeping air on the front end of the car, Offill would admittedly have a tough time maneuvering his machine.
Doing a great job despite the difficult task at hand, Offill would stay the course and take the checkered flag with a ninth place finish.
Moving onto Antioch, CA on Saturday night to battle with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour, Offill would get timed in as well as he would have hoped and found the Mass Brothers Powder Coating/TMAC Motorsports/Taco Bravo backed entry lined up in the fourth row of his heat race.
Going from seventh to sixth, Offill would be forced into the Finley Farms ‘B’ Main where the top-six would move into the feature event. Lining up in the eight starting position, Offill would get off to a great start as he forged ahead early and took over the fifth position.
Looking for more, Offill would close in on fourth but contact with a spinning car would get his machine upside down, and his night would come to an early end.
“We had a really good car in the ‘B’, and I was looking forward to transferring and getting a shot in the feature,” Offill added. “Unfortunately we got together with another car and it ended our night.”
Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, Taco Bravo, and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.
2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 17, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 5
