Kyle Offill Claim’s Garth E. Moore Insurance Services Rookie of the Year with the SCCT

PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Stockton, CA, Kyle Offill capped his rookie season in a winged sprint car by finishing 12th with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and netting the Garth E. Moore Insurance Services Rookie of the Year away.

“We got off to a great start to the night, and things were going well until I biked pretty good at the start of the feature and lost a ton of track position,” Kyle Offill said. “Luckily Brad, Alex, and my Dad gave me a really good car and we were able to rebound.”

Timing in seventh overall with 41 cars in the pit area, Kyle Offill would race through his heat race and pick up a third place finish and transfer the Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber backed No. 2K machine directly into the final 35-lap feature event of the season.

Lining up 12th in the starting grid, the wicked fast Stockton Dirt Track would bite Offill a little as his machine would bicycle and it would result in him fall back to the tail end of the field.

Though frustrated with how things began to play out, Offill stayed poised inside the helmet and began working his way back forward. When the race’s first caution flew on the 16th lap, the Tracy, CA wheelman had already managed to work his way up to 14th in the running order.

Once the first caution flew, the pace of the race would change with a myriad of cautions hampering the final half of the season finale. Working into 13th, Offill would run there for much of the second half of the race until he was able to move in 12th on the 31st lap where he would go on to finish.

“I really have to thank Brad Goebel and Alex Johnson for all their hard work especially since we brought out a second car for Ryan Bernal,” Offill added. “I also need to thank Shane Maibes for all of his help, as well as all of our partners for their continued support. I am looking forward to this winter and getting ready for 2018 starting with the Chili Bowl in the RAYPRO owned car again.”

Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, Taco Bravo,  and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 34, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 7

ON TAP: Kyle Offill and Team KO Racing are set to end their season on November 4th in Stockton, CA as Offill looks to earn Rookie of the Year honors with the SCCT.
