Kyle Offill Nets Best Finish of 2021

PETERSEN MEDIA: Kyle Offill will be the first one to tell you that 2021 has been a rough season. Saturday night, however, Offill put together a very strong night at Placerville Speedway that culminated with him garnering a third-place finish after leading the first half of the race.
“Normally I think you are a little bitter with a third-place finish after leading laps, but after the last couple of months we have had, a third-place finish is awesome,” Kyle Offill said. “It felt great to be up front and competing for a win. I was kind of hoping we would get into traffic, but a couple of yellows negated that chance and Blake was a little better in open track conditions.”
With 31 cars on hand, Offill got his night off to a great start as he timed the Country Builders/Ochco West Lumber/Reliable Lumber mount in third fastest in qualifying time trials.
Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Offill was able to keep his machine inside the Top-Four, as he would finish third and transfer into the feature event as well as into the nightly redraw.
Pulling the two pill, Offill would line up on the front row of the 25-lap feature event alongside Shane Hopkins. When the green flag dropped it was Offill dipping to the low side of the speedway and taking command of the race early.
Working the bottom to perfection, Offill was able to slowly pull away from second running Hopkins, who had taking a liking to the high side of the speedway himself. Clicking off laps, Offill continued to set the pace as traffic would soon approach as the race neared the halfway point.
As the leaders got to the back of the field, the caution would fly on the 14th lap, giving Offill a clear track in front of him.
The ensuing restart would see Hopkins get the jump over Offill, however it was all for not as Hopkins endured mechanical failure at the other end of the track and ended his night.
The next restart would see Blake Carrick start alongside Offill. While Offill was bale to get the jump, Carrick would hang with the leader as he used the cushion, and was able to take the top spot and drop Offill to second.
Continuing to work the bottom in second, Offill would close back in on the leader until the caution flew with just six laps left in the race. The final restart would see Offill have a run on the leader, but as Carrick was able to keep his right rear on the cushion, he would pull back ahead as they raced into three and four.
Coming to the checkered, a surging Kalib Henry would sneak around Offill as Offill came home with a third-place finish.
“I really have to thank my team for being so patient with me and really enduring some tough nights,” Offill said. “It was great to have a good run, and hopefully we can match this at the Bradway this weekend.”
Kyle Offill would like to thank Country Builders, Ochoco West Lumber, Reliable Lumber, Boise Cascade, Inc., Brown and Miller, MAAS Brothers Powder Coating, Offill Family Farms, Tool Tech Construction Supply, HRP, FK Shocks, A.R.T. Enterprise, Hinchman Racewear, Maxim Chassis, and B. Scadden Design for their continued support.
BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 18, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 1, Top 10’s: 2
