PETERSEN MEDIA: Racing with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on two occasions over the weekend, Kyle Offill put together two very good runs that saw him finish 12th and 13th in each ‘A’ Main.

“We had two good nights, and some positives came from the weekend,” Offill said. “We made our first SCCT Dash on Friday night, and we made both feature events which is no small order with this group.”

Friday night the scene was Placerville Speedway, a track that Offill has been able to visit more than others in his short career. Timing the Ochoco West/Boise Cascade/Reliable Lumber backed No. 2k in fourth quickest in his group, Offill would finish second in his heat race.

By way of his heat race finish, the Tracy, CA pilot was eligible for his first Dash with the new series and an eighth place finish put him in the fourth row for the 40-lap feature event.

In a stout feature event, Offill would hold his own on the extremely slick Placerville Speedway surface. Running well inside the Top-10 for the first half of the race, Offill would find himself battling with drivers like Andy Gregg, Jimmy Trulli, and a charging Kyle Hirst.

The back half of the race would see a couple of double file restarts take place and they would hurt Offill a little, but was still able to manage a 12th place finish.

Heading to Stockton Dirt Track on Saturday night, a track that was tough on Offill in early July, he was showed no signs of slowing down as he earned quick time honors in his qualifying group aboard the Maas Brothers Powder Coating/TMAC Motorsports/Offill Family Farms entry.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Offill would finish in the fourth and final transfer position, which moved him directly into the 35-lap feature event.

Gridding the field from the 12th starting position, an abrasive surface would prove tough to move around on. Search for moisture in the early goings of the race, rubber would begin to go down, and as drivers found it they would get in line for the duration of the race.

Running in the 13th spot, Offill would come another step closer to earning SCCT Rookie of the Year honors with just one tour race left later this year in November.

“Saturday night was the first time I had really been on a rubber down track, so it was a good learning experience,” Offill added. “Like I said it was a good weekend, and I am looking forward to running in some big races the next few weeks.”

Team KO Racing would like to thank Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Reliable Lumber, Maas Brothers Powder Coating, TMAC Motorsports, Offill Family Farms, Golden State Lumber, Inc., California TrusFrame, Lord & Sons, Inc., B&S Hacienda Auto Body, Country Builders Construction, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, HRP, Taco Bravo,  and Bacchetti Hay Service for their support this year.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 26, Wins: 2, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 7

ON TAP: Offill will make his first career Civil War Series start on Wednesday September 6th at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA as part of the 64th Annual Gold Cup Race of Champions.
