PETERSEN MEDIA- Kyler Shaw traveled to the Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night to do battle with the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster, and though it was not his best of the season, Shaw admittedly had fun taming the hooked up and rough speedway.

“The way the track was, it was fun to move around, and wrestle the car around the speedway,” he said. “It was sticky, rough, and fast, and really had to be up on the wheel.”

Going out early in time trials did not work out for Shaw, as the track continued to get faster and faster. When time trials were complete, a new track record had been set late in the session, and Shaw found himself 16th fastest, and out of the heat race inversion.

Lining up Shaw Structures Unlimited/PM$ Investments/Stan Yockey Motorsports No. 92 machine in the third row of his heat race, Shaw would finish in the sixth spot, putting him in in the eighth row for the feature event.

With the track continuing to pick up speed through the night, the early stages of the feature event were tough on Shaw as he fought his racecar, as conditions made his machine tight, and he fell back as far as the 19th spot.

As the laps clicked off, the track began to slow down ever so slightly, but that allowed Shaw to move around a little more as he slowly picked positions back up.

With some yellow flags during the middle of the race working out to his advantage, Shaw was able to work his way up to a 14th place finish when the checkered flag flew on the series’ 10th event of the season.

“We were a little tight early, but I was patient and the car came to me,” he added. “We didn’t put on a run through the field, but we were able to hold our own, and work our war forward a little bit.”

Kyler would like to thank Shaw Structures Unlimited, PM$ Investments, Stan Yockey Motorsports, Pro Signs, 4FourGraphics, F4st Four Media, Borrelo Racing Engines, Uncle Dave’s Ranch, and Sid’s Smokehouse for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-25, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-11.

ON TAP: Kyler will now head to Chico, CA this weekend for the Fall Nationals.
