PETERSEN MEDIA- Putting the wings back on his machine after making his non-wing debut a week ago, Kyler Shaw rebounded from a rough night at the Ocean Speedway on Friday night to score an eighth place finish at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night.

“We have been really consistent the last month or so, and it’s a good feeling to see the progression of our team,” Shaw said.

Timing in 12th fastest at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, Shaw found himself on the pole of his heat race.

When the green flag dropped, Shaw was hard on the throttle and jumped into the early lead. With the wing slider failing during the heat race, Shaw’s wing slid all the way back, making his racecar very tight, but the Fresno, CA driver was able to get the job done and pick up the win.

With the win, Shaw earned a spot in the Top-Eight redraw, where he pulled the five pill, and lined his machine up in the third row.

On the extremely slick surface, Shaw worked the bottom of the speedway as he battled in a pack between fourth, fifth, and sixth place.

As the bottom began to go away, Shaw lost a few spots, dropping him back into the seventh position.

Continuing to search around the speedway, Shaw’s machine bicycled on him, allowing a couple of cars to get by him again, and he ran in the  ninth spot.

Working his way back forward Shaw got into a battle with Billy Butler as they fought over the seventh spot. In a close race, Butler was able to edge Shaw out at the line, giving Shaw eighth at the stripe.

“I never like to lose spots from where I start, but as the move up in the starting order, you really have to be on your game to maintain,” he added. “Though we went backwards, it is great to get another Top-10.”

Friday night Shaw was in action at the Ocean Speedway with the Ocean Sprints Presented By Taco Bravo, and he got off to a great start as he timed is entry in sixth fastest.

Scheduled to start third in his heat race, Shaw found himself on the front row after a fellow competitor was called for jumping the start, and with his second place finish, Shaw just missed earning a spot in the redraw, and lined up in the ninth spot for the 30-lap feature vent.

The opening lap saw Shaw pick up a few positions, but he then made contact with the back stretch wall, and unknowingly jarred his fuel pump.

Making the trip to the work area, Shaw’s team found no damage, but after his machine re-fired, he figured out the damage, and called it a night with a DNF.

“Friday was a bummer because we had a really good night going,” he noted. “Like I said it has been fun getting more comfortable, and finding more speed weekly. I can’t thank my family for all of their hard work, and the people and companies that support us.”

Kyler would like to thank Shaw Structures Unlimited, PM$ Investments, Stan Yockey Motorsports, Pro Signs, 4FourGraphics, F4st Four Media, Borrelo Racing Engines, Uncle Dave’s Ranch, and Sid’s Smokehouse for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-21, Wins-0, Top 5’s-0, Top 10’s-10.
