PETERSEN MEDIA- With the Placerville Speedway going dark for the El Dorado County Fai, Kyle Shaw took advantage of the opportunity to compete at a new track to him, and during his first visit to the Petaluma Speedway, Shaw recorded a career best sixth place finish aboard his 360ci winged sprint car.
Starting his night out by timing in 10th fastest on the black clay at the Petaluma Speedway, Shaw went on to score a fifth place finish in his heat aboard his Shaw Structures Unlimited/PM$ Investments/Stan Yockey Motorsports backed No. 92 entry, putting him in the sixth row for the main event.
Still adjusting to the new scenery, Shaw slowly got comfortable as the feature event clicked off laps, as he moved into the eighth spot just a few laps into the race.
Getting into the flow of the race, the Fresno, CA driver came into his own, and worked up into the Top-Five, as he held command of the fifth spot, until the yellow flag flew with just a couple of makers remaining, bunching the field up.
The ensuing restart hurt Shaw just a little, as he got into the fourth place car, who checked up in front of him, as the green flag waived, and Shaw got out of shape and dropped as position.
With just a little damage, Shaw was able to gather his machine up, and race his way to a sixth place finish.
“I was pumped with how well we did at Petaluma with it being our first race,” he said. “The track was a ton of fun to drive, and I cannot wait to get back there and race. I was really hoping we could get a Top-Five out of the deal, but we will certainly take a sixth and look to build on that as the season rolls along.”
