PETERSEN MEDIA- Making his first start at the Marysville Raceway officially as the track champion, Cody Lamar would take on the Civil War Series Saturday night and a strong run would go south as a late incident relegated him to a 13th place finish.

“It was an okay night for our team,” Cody Lamar said. “We picked up another quick time honor, ran third in the Dash, but we tried something on the car since the track was so hooked up and the changes didn’t cooperate.”

For the 11th time of the 2016 at the Marysville Raceway, Lamar picked up quick time honors during qualifying time trials. Starting in the second row of his heat race, Lamar would pick up a fourth place finish on the hooked up surface but it would be good enough to move him into the Dash.

Pulling the four pill in the redraw, Lamar would pick up a spot in the six-lap race where a third place finish would place him in the second row of the 30-lap feature event.

With the track staying extremely fast and rough in spots, Lamar and company would try some different changes to the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9l, but they didn’t seem to work as Lamar had hoped.

Getting shuffled back the first few laps, Lamar would find himself back in the ninth spot by the 10th lap, and amidst a torrid battle with 2015 track champion, Justin Sanders.

During an extended green flag run, Lamar and Sanders would be the best race on the track as they battled hard for the eighth spot. Looking like he would picking up a Top-10 finish, Lamar would lose the handle on the 29th lap and bring his machine to a stop in turn four.

Restarting in the 14th spot, Lamar would be able to get one spot back during the final green-white-checkered run as he finished in the 13th spot.

‘It was a little bit of a bummer to go backwards after starting in the second row, but we wanted to try something and it just didn’t work out for us,” Lamar added. “We would also like to thank the F&W Racing team for making it possible for us to race Saturday. We sent our engine back to get freshened up and they allowed us to their back up, and we really appreciate it.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-21, Wins-3, Top 5’s- 9, Top 10’s-10

ON TAP: Cody and his team will take this weekend off before heading to the Silver Dollar Speedway in two weeks for the Fall Nationals on September 30th and October 1st.
