PETERSEN MEDIA- Cody Lamar would do what he could to fight forward on Saturday night in Fernley, NV. Missing the heat race inversion, Lamar would race his way into a transfer position and then work forward as well as he could to finish 15th at the Fernley 95A Raceway.

“It was an alright night for our team,” Lamar said. “I just couldn’t seem to really get going and we ended up with a 15th place finish.”

Timing the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L entry in fifth quickest in his time trial group, the Sacramento, CA driver would line up in the third row of his heat race.

On the slick surface, Lamar would grab a couple positions on the start of the race as he overtook the third position and was able to transfer directly into the 35-lap ‘A’ Main event.

Lining up 19th, Lamar knew he would have his work cut out for him with how the track was and how far back he started. When the race came to life, Lamar would show smarts from the drivers compartment as he settled into the flow of what would be a 33-lap green flag run to open the race up.

Moving forward where he could by rolling the bottom of the speedway, Lamar would work his way up to the 15th spot. Battling with fellow drivers, Kalib Henry, and Tony Gualda, Lamar was careful not to do anything wild as much of the field fought for the same real estate.

When the dust settled on the 35-lap affair, Lamar would come across the finish line in the 15th spot.

“You couldn’t be too crazy with how the track was in the feature event,” Lamar noted. “I just did all I could and drove as smart as I could to bring it home with no issues.”

Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.

2017 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-17, Wins-0, Top 5’s- 4, Top 10’s-7

ON TAP: Lamar is still undecided on where he will race Saturday night. The team is still deciding between Petaluma Speedway and Placerville Speedway.
