Lamar Fights Back To Finish 2nd After Nasty Wreck During Time Trials

PETERSEN MEDIA- Setting quick time during his first lap of qualifications, Cody Lamar would take a nasty tumble on the second lap though with the help of other teams, Lamar would make it out for the feature event as he worked his way from 11th to finish in the second spot.
“Saturday was definitely eventful,” Lamar said. “I had a good lap one during qualifying but I hit the top a little to hard on my second lap and we went for a big one. Thanks to my guys and all the other teams that helped us make it out for the feature”
Setting the standard during qualifications aboard his A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L machine, Lamar would be sidelined during heat race action as crews thrashed on his car.
Getting things buttoned up just before the feature event, Lamar would make the call as he found himself back in the 11th spot for the 25-lap feature event. On a track that stayed in good shape for most of the night, Lamar was able to trend in the right direction aboard his repaired mount.
Showing great speed on the Marysville Raceway ¼ mile, Lamar would bob and weave his way through traffic and avoid a couple of spills along the way. Getting up to Mike Monahan in the race’s closing laps, Lamar would have nothing for the leader as he settled for a second place finish on this night; a result many didn’t think would be possible after time trials.
“It was a ton of work to get our car back race ready, and it was truly a group effort from the racing family,” Lamar said. “I can’t thank everyone enough to had their hands on our car.”
Cody and his team would like to thank A1 Septic, Joe Hunt Magnetos, and NAAKE Suspension for their continued support.
2016 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-13, Wins-3, Top 5’s- 6, Top 10’s-7
