PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night for weekly racing action, Lamar would show some speed on an extremely hooked up and fast racing surface as he recorded a fifth place finish.
“We had a pretty good night overall,” Lamar said. “We were fast all night, the track was really hooked up, and we came away with a nice finish after not drawing so well for the ‘A’.”
Timing the A1 Septic/Joe Hunt Magnetos/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 9L entry in fourth fastest in qualifying time trials, Lamar would line up in the second row of his heat race.
On a juiced up Petaluma Speedway racing surface, Lamar would finish in the fourth spot and earn a spot in the nightly redraw based on his time trial efforts.
Pulling the seven pill, Lamar would line up in the fourth row for the 25-lap feature event on a throwback, elbows up Petaluma Speedway racing surface. When the race came to life, Lamar would settle into seventh as he laid the throttle pedal to the floorboard.
The surface would be tough to pass on, but the drivers ran at a torrid pace waiting for each other to blink and create an opening. Continuing to run in the seventh spot, Lamar would take advantage of two drivers getting into each other late in the race and take over the fifth spot.
Hanging on to fifth in the closing laps, Lamar would come away with his third Top-Five finish of the season.
“I am enjoying getting more laps at Petaluma Speedway on a weekly basis,” Lamar added. “They also run a pretty efficient program, so it’s been making for some fun Saturday nights.”
