PETERSEN MEDIA: Lance Dewesae and his Dietz Motorsports team continue to hit their stride, as Dewease picked up a second place finish during Saturday night’s Kasey Kahne Dirt Classic at the Lincoln Speedway.

“We had really good speed all night,” Dewease said. “We timed in with quick time, ran well in our heats, and put ourselves in a spot for the feature event.”

With 52 cars in the house for the inaugural event, Dewese set the standard in time trials, before going on to score a win in his first heat race and a fourth place finish in his second heat race, lining him up on the front row of the feature event along side Stevie Smith.

As the race came to life, Dewease grabbed the early lead, but was flanked by a very pesky Smith. On the second lap, Smith was able to get by Dewease for what was ultimately the race winning move, but Dewease hounded Smith for much of the race.

As the laps clicked off Dewease slowly faded from Smith, allowing the leader to pull to nearly a two second lead, but with eight laps to go, Dewease erased that gap, as he pulled back up to race leader.

In dense traffic, Dewease looked to make the winning move, but could not find his opening, and wound up finishing in the second spot.

“We had a pretty good race there with Stevie, but he was just a little better on this night,” he added. “We had a nice weekend, and hopefully we can run well again with the World of Outlaws this weekend at the Grove.”

Friday night, Dewease was in action at the Williams Grove Speedway for one final tune up before the National Open.

Winning his heat race, the Fayetteville, PA driver lined up sixth in the feature event, and worked his way into the third spot, midway through the feature event.

A late race caution bunched the field back up, giving Dewesae one final chance to make a bid for the top spot, but under the yellow, Dewease had a spark plug go bad, causing his engine to stumble, but he was able to hang on to a fifth place finish.

“We are all working well together, and putting ourselves in contention night in and night out right now, and hopefully we can repeat our performance at the Summer Nationals, and defend our home turf.”
