Last Lap Miscue Hinders Forsberg’s Charge at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg would rebound from a tough qualifying effort only to see a last lap miscue derail his hard charge efforts.
“The wind didn’t really do Placerville Speedway any favors on Saturday and it made for a tricky surface that we all had to deal with,” Andy Forsberg said. “Mix that with us still searching for speed with our engine, and me making a late mistake in the feature and it results in a bit of a tough night.”
With 29 cars checked into Placerville Speedway on Saturday night, the Auburn, CA driver would time the C&H Motor Parts/Bushey Financial Services/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 sprinter in 19th fastest in time trials after going out late on a very slick surface.
Lining up in the third row of his heat race, Forsberg was able to make some headway and race into a transfer position. Finishing fourth in his heat race, Forsberg would avoid a trip to the ‘B’ as he locked himself into the 25-lap feature event.
Taking the green flag from the 15th starting position, Forsberg would have a lot of work to do from the back of the pack on a freshly groomed racing surface.
Slipping back to 18th when the race came to life, Forsberg would slowly work his way up towards the Top-10. With the first nine-laps ripping off with no stoppages, Forsberg had made his way back to 15th when the field bunched up for a double-file restart.
Continuing to run in 15th, Forsberg would get moving at the race’s halfway point. Climbing up to 13th, the Auburn, CA driver continue to look for more as he finally cracked the Top-10 on lap 14.
Moving into ninth with just nine laps to go, Forsberg would forge his way into eighth as the laps clicked down.
Taking the white flag in eighth, Forsberg’s charge would end up all for not as he would hang his right-rear off the edge of the speedway in turns one and two, and was officially credited with a 15th place finish.
“Even with the rework, it was really thing up top in turns one and two and I made a really bad mistake and it cost us a Top-10,” Forsberg said. “We are still fighting some things on our car, and this week we have something else that we want to try and hopefully it sort of alleviates our struggles. Looking forward to getting back down to Petaluma Speedway with the SCCT on Sataurday.”
F&F Racing and Andy Forsberg would like to thank C&H Motor Parts, Bushey Financial Services, PitStopUSA, Geico Local Office, Econo Lube-n-Tune & Brakes, Lucas Oil, Pacific Highway Rentals, Autism Awareness, CRV Carbon Solutions, All Pro Heads, and Engler for their support in 2021.
