Late Contact at Fall Nationals Ends Blake Carrick’s Night

PETERSEN MEDIA: Dealing with brake issues during Friday night’s Fall Nationals opener in Chico, CA, Saturday’s finale was going well for Blake Carrick until he was collected in another car’s wreck and ended his night early.

“Friday night we fought brake issues all night, and it put us in the ‘C’,’ Blake Carrick said. “We were able to get those issues fixed for Saturday and had a really good run going in the feature until we got collected in another driver’s mess.”

Following a night of issues on Friday night, Saturday night saw the Lincoln, CA driver get off to a great start as he timed the CVC/Cemex/Interstate Oil backed No. 38B entry in sixth fastest in his qualifying flight with 69 cars checked in at the Silver Dollar Speedway.

Putting himself in the second row of his heat race, Carrick’s fourth place finish would safely earn him a berth in the 40-lap feature event where he would take the green flag from the 16th starting position.

Working his way towards the Top-10 when the green flag dropped on what would be a very wild feature event, Carrick would take over the 12th spot on lap six before breaking into eighth on the race’s 11th marker.

Slipping back to ninth just before the halfway point, Carrick would continue to work inside the Top-10 as the laps continued to click down. A lap 25 restart saw Carrick make a big move that saw him pick up a few positions, but with a car getting out of shape in front of him, it would leave the Lincoln, CA driver with nowhere to go and his night would come to an early end.

“I felt really good Saturday night, we just got caught up and had nowhere to go,” Carrick said. “Looking forward to getting the 410ci engine back in this weekend for two nights of racing in Hanford, CA.

Blake Carrick would like to thank CVC, Cemex, Interstate Oil, Conti, Harris and Sloan, Emerald, Timberworks Construction, Kaeding Performance, and Arai for their continued support

ON TAP: Blake Carrick will head to Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA this Friday and Saturday night for two nights of 410ci action.

BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-44, Wins-2, Top 5’s-11, Top 10’s-25
