Late Flat Derails Kalib Henry and McColloch Motorsports at Placerville Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA: Returning to the seat of the McColloch Motorsports entry on Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Kalib Henry looked to be well on his way to another Top-Five with the No. 17 car until a late incident resulted in a flat right front tire and ended his night.

“It was a good night with the McColloch Motorsports car,” Kalib Henry said. “We had good speed again, and we were battling up front most of the night. We still think we can be a little better, so we will go to work and see what we can do at Petaluma this weekend.”

With 29 cars on hand Henry timed the McColloch’s RV Repair/Express Sewer and Drain/Davis Truck Painting backed sprinter in second fastest in qualifying time trials on a track that took a beating from afternoon winds.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Mather, CA driver would have a nice heat race that saw him advance into the second position where he would go on to finish.

Making the redraw based on his qualifying effort mixed with him transferring through his heat race, Henry would pull the ‘six’ pill, placing him in the third row for the 25-lap feature event.

When the race came to life on the reworked surface, Henry was able to make a couple of quick moves and take over the fourth spot as the race settled into an extended green flag run.

The race’s first nine laps would click off with no stoppages, setting up a double file restart as the reworked surface began to blow off. Continuing to run inside the Top-5, Henry looked very strong as he battled with the likes of Ryan Bernal, and Andy Forsberg.

Henry’s strong showing would end on the 21st lap however, as contact with another car resulted in a flat right front tire. With the damage, Henry and company decided to head back to their pit and Henry would be credited with an 18th place finish.

“Big thanks to Nick and Kerry McColloch for continuing to work hard on this car, and trying to find more speed,” Henry added. “Petaluma has been a decent track for me over the years, so I am excited to see how we can perform together down there this weekend.”

McColloch Motorsports would also like to take a moment and welcome Shauna Hogg and Driven Homes, Inc. to their stable of marketing partners. A former racer herself, Hogg is now a well-established real estate agent in the Greater Sacramento area, and continues to give back to grassroots racing.
