Late Flat Tire Takes Becker Out of Placerville Contention

PETERSEN MEDIA- With an opening in his schedule, as well as an opening in the Monhoff Racing No. 35 for the night, Sean Becker climbed back aboard the familiar car for a night of racing at the Placerville Speedway, and had a very strong run going, until a flat tire under a late yellow forced him to the work area.
“We were pretty strong all night, “ Becker said. “Though our results haven’t shown it, the last two weeks that we raced together, we had a really good car.”
Back at the Placerville Speedway for the second consecutive Saturday night, ‘The Shark’, Sean Becker would timed the Dan Monhoff owned No. 35 machine in fourth fastest in time trials, before finishing third in his heat race.
Finding himself with the two pill after the Top-8 redraw, Becker would line up on the front row alongside Greg DeCaires. Settling into the second spot early in the race, Becker would attack the Placerville cushion, as he chased after the early race leader.
On the extremely slick Placerville Speedway surface, Becker would continue to ride the cushion, until a challenge from the third place car on the bottom of the speedway, saw him adjust his line, as he continued his pursuit of the leader.
Finding grip and speed in the bottom groove, Becker would continue to keep DeCaires in his sights, and even pull to his bumper at times, but could not find a way around. On the 18th lap, Becker cut his right-rear tire, but continued to run, as it stayed up as the car was at speed.
A caution on the 21st lap would see the tire go completely flat, and Becker was forced to give up his track position with four laps to go, as he would ultimately finish in the 13th spot.
“We really didn’t have anything for Greg DeCaires, but I think we could have held on to the second spot if it wasn’t for that flat tire,” Becker added. “I really want to thank Dan Monhoff for allowing me to run his car over these last couple of weekends, as we both had openings in our schedules.”
Becker would like to thank Mike’s Hard Lemonade, Cherry Street Mini Storage, Menne Ranch Hay Inc., Astro Titanium, Ponybracket.com, Shaver Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, and K&N for their support in 2015.
2015 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 14, Wins- 2, Top 5’s- 10, Top 10’s- 10
ON TAP: Becker will climb back aboard the Friends and Family Racing No. x1 machine on Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway before piloting the Menne Motorsports No. 75 on Sunday in Chico, CA in a pair of Civil War races.
