Late Race Contact Knocks Ryan Robinson Off Potential SCCT Podium; Looks to Rebound in Petaluma, CA S

PETERSEN MEDIA: Ryan Robinson looked to be well on his way to another podium with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday, but issues with cars in front of him led to race ending contact just two laps shy of the checkered.

“I feel like we are finally back to the speed we had last season,” Ryan Robinson said. “Saturday night Todd Weiher and the guys put a really good car on track but when Shane Golobic and Justin Sanders got together it left me with nowhere to go and we tore some equipment up unfortunately.”

Saturday night Robinson and the Weiher Racing team were having a great night as the Forrest Hill, CA native timed in fastest in his group for qualifying and backed it up with a second-place finish in heat race action.

Finishing fourth in the High Sierra Industries Dash, Robinson took the green flag from the second row on a very slick racing surface that had built up a thick cushion on each end of the track.

Moving into third when the action came to life, Robinson looked very good up front as he searched after his second consecutive series win. Chasing after Golobic and Sanders who ran first and second, a late restart bunched the field back up and ultimately changed the complexion of Robinson’s night.

The race’s final restart saw the leaders get together while battling for track position and Robinson would get stuck with nowhere to go and make contact which caused damage to the rear end of his car and ended his bid for an SCCT podium.

Though the team was disappointed in the result, Robinson has confidence as they follow the series to Petaluma Speedway on Saturday night, a track where they were victorious at during the championship campaign in 2021.

“We just got caught up in a bad spot on Saturday night,” Robinson added. “Looking forward to this week, I am really excited about getting to Petaluma Speedway. It is a place that I have been fast at each time I have been there, and this No. 14w found victory lane there last year too.

Weiher Racing would like to thank Mako Farms Inc., LP Holdings, Roseville Precision Inc., Escalon Body and Frame, Seth’s Racing Engines, Pettibone Builders, Sipes CC, The Holman Family, Square Tires, Papa Chuck, Dave Harvey Trucking, and Morrison Concrete for their continued support.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races-8, Wins-1, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-6

ON TAP: Robinson and the Weiher Racing team will be at Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday night.
