PETERSEN MEDIA- Climbing back aboard the famed Country Builders Construction No. 88 entry on Saturday night at the Howard Kaeding Classic, Jonathan Allard looked to be well on his way to another Top-Five finish aboard the mount until a late race incident ended his night.

“We had a pretty good night going,” Jonathan Allard said. “I did make a mistake on the start and fall back a little, but we were solidly inside the Top-Five and looked for another good finish but a late race incident ended our night.”

With 34 cars checked into Ocean Speedway on Saturday night for the race honoring the great Howard Kaeding, Allard got his night kicked off by timing the Country Builders Construction/Ochoco West/Boise Cascade backed machine in sixth quickest in time trials.

Picking up the popular heat race win, Allard would transfer into the Dash where the win would not only secure him some Sunny Valley Bacon, but it would also put him on the pole for the 30-lap feature event.

When the race came to life, Allard would slip up in the middle of turns one and two and it would cost him as he slipped back to fourth before Bud Kaeding put him back to fifth during the race’s opening lap.

Allard would settle in and hold down position inside the Top-Five as he chased after the likes of Kaeding, Croft, and Golobic.

Continuing to work the ¼ mile bullring as traffic became an issue, Allard would continue to look strong in only his fourth start of the season, and his third aboard the Country Builders Construction entry.

In close quarters action late in the race, issues in turns three and four would see Allard involved in a tangle while battling for position that would ultimately end his night on the 24thcircuit.

“Bummer way to end our night,” Allard said. “I hate it for everyone involved with this team. The bright side is, we haven’t raced this car much this year but it has been pretty fast each and every time out. Huge thanks to the Offill family for giving me a great opportunity.”

Allard would like to thank Country Builders Construction, Ochoco West, Boise Cascade, Maas Brothers Powdercoating, Offill Family Farms, Walker Performance Filtration, Brown and Miller,  ButlerBuilt, King Racing Products, Red Line Oil, Smith Precision Products, KSE Racing Products, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, A.R.T. Speed Equipment, AL Driveline, and Hoosier Tire for their support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-4, Wins-0, Top 5’s-1, Top 10’s-1.

ON TAP:JA will be back in action when the King of the West Series invades Placerville Speedway on August 21st.
