PETERSEN MEDIA: With the 21st Annual Trophy Cup on the horizon at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA, DJ Netto and his Netto Motorsports team are taking advantage of two weekends of racing at the facility leading up to the marquee event. Last Saturday night, Netto put on quite a charge during a 360ci event, only to be involved in a late race tangle that knocked him out of the race.

“We had some really good speed at Tulare on Saturday night, and it was a nice shake down with our 360 at the Thunderbowl,” Netto said. “We raced really well in the main event, but we got collected in another driver’s wreck with about 10 laps to go, and it ended our night.”

34 cars were on hand taking advantage of the track time on the Thunderbowl, and Netto had a little struggle in time trials, that ultimately put him in the third row of his heat race.

Having things in order during his heat, Netto was able to transfer out of his heat race, though he lined up in the 17th spot in the feature event.

On the always exciting Thunderbowl Raceway, Netto looked to be in fine form, as he showed some speed as he clawed his way through the field. Taking advantage of the double file restarts that were in play on this night, Netto was able to work his way up to the fifth spot, as the race began it’s home stretch.

With 10-laps-to-go, Netto ran in a pack with the leaders, but a car lost he handle in front of him, and with nowhere to go, Netto made contact, and the damage ultimately ended his night.

Though the night ended with bent parts, Netto was pleased with how his car felt, and how his team was able to perform.

“Trophy Cup is a huge race, and it was nice to get some laps in the 360ci engine on the Thunderbowl Raceway,” Netto said. “Though it’s dirt track racing, and it’s hard to ‘test’, it was nice to see that we had speed, and have a decent starting point.”

DJ and his Netto Racing team would like to thank Netto Agriculture, Penny Newman Grain, Bogies Auto Parts, and Vande Pol Enterprises for their support in 2014.

ON TAP: Netto and his team will be in action on Saturday night at the Thunderbowl in Tulare, CA with the King of the West Series for the Cotton Classic.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts-46, Wins-1, Top 5’s-8, Top 10’s-16
