PETERSEN MEDIA: To say Austin Liggett is in a zone right now would be an understatement. Friday night, the Tracy, CA driver picked up his third consecutive midget feature event win and fourth consecutive race win overall at Kern County Raceway Park, before a wild Saturday night saw the win streak come to an end.

“Friday night we were fast all night and we swept the night which was extremely cool to do, and on Saturday night we got caught up in a wreck early and came back to finish sixth,” Austin Liggett said. “We were good on Saturday, and I think if there’s no lap three incident we are in the mix for a win in Ventura, CA too.”

Checking in at Kern County Raceway Park on Friday night with the POWRi BCRA Lucas Oil Midget Series, Austin Liggett flexed his muscle all night as he earned quick time honors, won his heat race, and for the third straight consecutive night in his midget, found himself celebrating a victory.

Looking to ride his momentum in Ventura, CA on Saturday night with the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series, the Tracy, CA pilot opened the night up by timing the Excel Environmental Services/Liggett Trucking/Tool Technology sprinter in fourth quickest amongst the 23 cars taking time on this night.

Going form fifth to third in heat race action, Liggett moved into the feature event where he rolled off the starting grid in the third position. Getting into second early in the race, lap three would see contact ensue getting into turn one resulting in Liggett spinning to a stop and being forced to the tail end of the field.

From the back, Liggett drove with a little anger as he sliced and diced his way around the tight confines of Ventura Raceway and would find himself back up inside the Top-Five late in the race.

Looking to cap his night with a Top-Five a slight bobble on the race’s final lap would see Liggett fall to sixth right at the finish line.

“Big thanks to my Dad for giving me two great racecars all weekend long,” Liggett said. “We are really hitting our stride and I have a ton of confidence. I also have to thank my Mom and Matt for working hard for me as well.”

Austin Liggett Racing would like to thank Excel Environmental Services, Liggett Trucking, Tool Technology, Hurst Fabrications, Maxwell Industries, Shine Photography, and Morris Motorsports for their support.

2019 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-12, Wins-5, Top 5’s-9, Top 10’s-10

ON TAP: Liggett returns to action on Friday May 17th at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, CA.
