Liggett Hard Charges with USAC/CRA During Eventful Night

PETERSEN MEDIA: Taking in a night of action with the USAC/CRA Series at Perris Auto Speedway, an eventful night would ultimately see Austin Liggett charge from the 22ndstarting position and finish eighth as he earned Ellen Ellis Hard Charger Honors.

“It was quite the night, and I have to thank all the teams, and my guys for all of their help and hard work,” Austin Liggett said. “We lost a rear end in hot laps and the Vander Weerd’s let us borrow one, but they then had issues and needed it back after heat race action. Fortunately Moose Racing lent us one for the feature and we were able to make good use out of it and go from 22ndto eighth.”

Following the issues in hot laps, Liggett would head out for time trials with essentially not track time leading into the session and would time in 26thof the 30 cars entered into the pit area.

Lining up ninth in his heat race, the Tracy, CA wheelman would do what he needed in heat race action as he carved his way forward and finished fourth. By way of the finish, Liggett transferred directly into the feature event where he would grid the field from the 22ndstarting position.

Borrowing a rear end from Vander Weerd Motorsports after hot laps, they would have issues of their own and need it back. Pulling it out, and helping them get it back in their car, Tom and Lorie Siertich of Moose Racing would offer a spare rear end up for Liggett to use to run the feature event.

Thrashing to get the rear end installed, Liggett would make the call for the feature event where he had his work cut out for him. Mired in traffic, Liggett let it all hang out as he carved his way through the field getting better and better with each and every lap.

When the eventful night came to a close, Liggett took the checkered flag with an eighth place finish and earned the Ellen Ellis Hard Charger Award and took home an additional $2700 that Leland McSpadden was able to raise.

“Man I can’t thank Leland McSpadden and everyone who made the hard charger award so great,” Liggett said. “We had a brutal night, and that really made it all worth it. Thanks to the Vander Weerd’s and Moose Racing for stepping in and helping us out all night, and a big thanks to my Parents, Britton, and Landon for working so hard all night long.”

Austin Liggett Racing would like to thank Excel Environmental Services, Liggett Trucking, Tool Technology, Hurst Fabrications, Maxwell Industries, Shine Photography, and Morris Motorsports for their support.
