Long Night Culminates with 9th Place Finish at Placerville Speedway for Andy Forsberg
PETERSEN MEDIA- Fighting mechanical gremlins all night long Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, Andy Forsberg and F&F Racing would then overcome an opening lap incident to finish ninth in the feature event.
“It was an absolute hot mess of a night,” Andy Forsberg said. “We timed in and something wasn’t right under the hood, and the F&F guys worked on it all night long. We still didn’t have it right in our heat, and they kept at it. We got it right for the feature, and then we got collected in an opening lap wreck, so it was eventful to say the least.”
Timing the Econo Lube-n-Tune and Brakes/Geico Local Office/PitStopUSA backed No. x1 machine in 15thfastest in time trials, Forsberg was still able to grab the heat race win despite something amiss under the hood of his machine.
Making the redraw, the vaunted eight pill would put the point leader in the fourth row of the 25-lap feature event. Continuing to change things and find the culprit, things seemed to be back to normal when the fired off for the feature event.
When the race went green, a couple of cars would get upside down in front of the field, and with nowhere to go contact would ensue to the top wing of Forsberg’s machine and he would be forced to the work area.
Able to restart, the Auburn, CA driver had his work cut out for himself from the back of the pack. Patiently working his way forward, Forsberg to do a great job of salvaging a trying night as he clawed his way up to finish ninth.
“Big thanks to my guys for not giving up,” Forsberg said. “It has just been feast of famine it seems like this year, and Saturday was no feast. We will try again this weekend.”
