PETERSEN MEDIA: After a smooth Trophy Cup under the guidance of Jim Van Lare, the duo teamed back up to close out the 2017 season on Saturday night in Stockton, CA as Ashe recorded a 15th place finish with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour.

“It’s been kind of tough not racing that much since July, so it felt really good to be back in the seat on Saturday,” Lucas Ashe said. “It was our second weekend working with Jim Van Lare, and we are happy with how it went.”

Timing the Jester Auto Museum & Event Center/SALCO, Inc./Lucas Oil/ backed No. 33 machine in sixth quickest in his time trial group, the Cottonwood, CA driver got the job done in his heat race as he worked up to the fourth position at the finish line which was good enough to transfer him directly into the feature event.

Finding himself in the ninth row for the 35-lap finale, Ashe had his work cut out for him on a wicked fast racing surface against a star studded starting line up. When the race came to life, Ashe would get off to a bit of a sluggish start as a jumble of cars would see him fall back to 21st.

With the first 16-laps moving along with no stoppages, Ashe would find himself back in the 19th position when the race’s first yellow finally flew. When the race picked back up, Ashe was able to take advantage of a few double file restarts as he worked his way up to 13th at one point.

While restarts helped him out on a couple of occasions, a late one would see him give up a couple of positions on the speedway as he would fall back to 15th on the 27th lap.

Continuing to try and fight his way forward, Ashe would go on to close his 2017 season out with a 15th place finish with the SCCT in it’s first season of existence.

“I am thankful we had the opportunity to come out and work with Jim Van Lare and his guys again in one final race,” Lucas Ashe said. “We will go to work over this winter and hopefully finalize our 2018 plans in the coming weeks.”

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum, and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, NAAKE Suspension, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, DMI Components, Shaver Racing Engines, Maxim, Rod End Supply, Lucky Seven Outlaw Wings, Fat Cat Propane, Pickern Allstate Ins., and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
