PETERSEN MEDIA: Lucas Ashe was able to make the trip to the 2017 Trophy Cup after a couple weeks away from racing, and though the results weren’t quite where he hoped they would be, Ashe was pleased with how things went working with Jim Van Lare for the first time.

“I had not been in a car since the beginning of September, so I had some rust to shake off,” Lucas Ashe admitted. “The results were not there, but I felt like we got better each time we hit the track.”

With 90 cars jamming into the pit area for the 24th Annual Trophy Cup, Ashe would time the SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil/NAAKE Suspension backed No. 33 machine in 34th quickest in time trials.

Picking up a fifth place finish during his heat race, the Cottonwood, CA driver would move into a ‘B’ Main where he would grid the field from the 19th starting position.

Turning in 20 good laps, Ashe would pick up a few positions in the race as his 17th place finish would end his Thursday night.

Back in action on Friday night, Ashe would time in a little better as he timed the STL Tile/Crown Motors/Logo USA backed machine in 32nd in qualifying time trials before racing his way to a seventh place finish in his heat race.

Lining up on the front row of the ‘C’ Main, Ashe would handle business in the 10-lap affair as he was able to race his way to the win, and keep his night going in the ‘B’ Main.

Lining up 21st in the ‘B’ Main, Ashe continued to get comfortable on the rough and tumble Thunderbowl Raceway. Not backing down, the youngster would do a nice job of moving forward as he worked his way up to a 10th place finish.

Saturday night saw Ashe line up on the front row of his ‘D’ Main with the Top Four finishers moving into the ‘C’. Able to pick up the win, Ashe would keep his Trophy Cup going as he moved into the ‘C’ Main where his Trophy Cup would end with him scored in 19th.

“There was some good that came from the weekend, and I have to thank everyone that made it possible,” Lucas Ashe said. “Looking forward to seeing what we can do in Stockton in a couple of weeks.”

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, NAAKE Suspension, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, DMI Components, Shaver Racing Engines, Maxim, Rod End Supply, Lucky Seven Outlaw Wings, Fat Cat Propane, Pickern Allstate Ins., Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
