PETERSEN MEDIA: Saturday night in Petaluma, CA, Lucas Ashe had a night to remember. Leading laps in the feature event, Ashe would come away with a third place finish.

“Jim Van Lare is the master of Petaluma Speedway,” Lucas Ashe said with a smile. “We had a great car, and were really fast all night. It was a blast battling up front, and I know our first win is coming.”

Ashe kicked Saturday night off by timing the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center/SALCO, Inc./Lucas Oil backed No. 33 machine in fourth quickest in qualifying time trials.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the Cottonwood, CA driver would make a couple of nice moves to pocket a second place finish and secure a spot in the nightly redraw where the four pill put him in the second row of the feature event.

From his second row starting position, Ashe would get off to a great start as he would rocket his machine into the race lead on the sticky gumbo that makes up Petaluma Speedway.

Out front, Ashe would quickly catch up with lapped traffic and it would create an epic battle for the lead. Battling with Klint Simpson and Jake Haulot for the top spot, the Petaluma veterans would get the best of Ashe as he fell back to third, but he would not give up.

Continuing to make it a three-car battle for the top spot, time would run out on Ashe as he would still come away with a great result as he took the checkered flag with a third place finish.

“It was a great race, and I had an absolute blast,” Ashe said. “It has me really excited to get back to Petaluma Speedway Saturday night, and I am looking forward to another great night. Huge thanks to Jim Van Lare and everyone that works on this car and to all of our partners for their endless support.”

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, Triple X Race Co., DMI Components, VSR, Factory QRC, Shaver Racing Engines, Rod End Supply, Fat Cat Propane, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.
