PETERSEN MEDIA: Sidelined from sprint car racing for a couple of weeks following an accident in Chico, CA, Lucas Ashe and his Lucas Ashe Racing team have been busy preparing for Speedweek Northwest, and took advantage of a Sunday night race in Petaluma, CA to shake everything down.

“I can’t than everyone who has stepped up and helped us get back on track,” Lucas Ashe said. “We have had some great people step up, and have also had some great people come forward to help make Speedweek Northwest a possibility.”

Sunday night in Petaluma, CA Ashe was in action with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour as the series made their final appearance at Petaluma Speedway. With 34 cars checked in on this night, Ashe would time the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center/SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil backed No. 33 mount in fifth fastest in his qualifying group.

Just missing the four-car inversion in the heat race, Ashe would grid the field form the third row needing to finising inside the top-five to punch his ticket directly into the feature event.

On the hooked up and fast Petaluma Speedway surface, passing would be at a premium early in the night. Settling into fifth as the race came to life, Ashe would hold the position with the checkered flag in the air and find himself safely in the 35-lap feature event.

The Petaluma adobe would stay locked down through much of the night, and Ashe would have his work cut out for him as he would take the green flag from the 19th starting position. When the race came to life, the track would cause fits for some, and unfortunately for Ashe early contact would cause his nosewing to collapse.

Having his hands full with no nose wing, Ashe would have some brake issues at the halfway point of the race, and with the way the track was, the Cottonwood, CA driver opted to pull his machine back to the pit area.

“It felt great to get back on the track and get racing again,” Ashe said. “I am really looking forward to getting up to Oregon next week, and again cannot thank everyone enough who is making this possible.”

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, Triple X Race Co., DMI Components, VSR, Factory QRC, Shaver Racing Engines, Rod End Supply, Fat Cat Propane, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 16, Wins-0, Top-5’s-2, Top-10’s-5

ON TAP: Ashe will get back to work on July 9th when he takes part in the Speedweek Northwest opener in Yreka, CA.
