PETERSEN MEDIA: Getting back to it over the weekend in Chico, CA, Lucas Ashe would work his way from the back of the pack both Friday and Saturday night as he tallied eighth and 11th place finishes.

“I have to thank Jim Van Lare and Zack Middlebrooks for their hard work all weekend,” Lucas Ashe said. “We had to come to the work area in both features and they were able to make repairs and adjustments and get the car pretty good.”

Friday night saw Ashe open his Silver Cup weekend up by timing the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center/SALCO Inc./Lucas Oil backed No. 33 machine in 10th quickest in qualifying time trials after being the first car on the clock.

Finishing eighth in his heat race after bicycling on the first lap, Ashe would move into the feature event where he lined up in the 12th starting position. With the track still extremely fast and hooked up, the Cottonwood, CA driver would battle a tight car in the opening two laps before opting to make a trip to the work area under red.

Getting some adjustments made to his entry, Ashe would restart from the 16th starting spot. On a bad fast Silver Dollar Speedway, the youngster would turn in some extremely nice laps as he fought all the way back to finish eighth.

Looking to keep his momentum going on Saturday night, Ashe would time the STL Tile/Crown Motors/Logo USA machine in 15th fastest in time trials.

Finishing sixth in his heat race, Ashe would find himself in the 17th starting position for the 30-lap Silver Cup finale. During a red flag on the start of the race, contact to the rear of Ashe’s machine from another competitor would again for him into the work area to make some repairs.

Able to rejoin the field, Ashe would take the green flag from the 22nd starting position, and he would again do a nice job of racing his way forward. On a wide a racy Silver Dollar Speedway surface, Ashe was able to move around and fight for a spot in the Top-10.

Using some late restarts to his advantage, Ashe would find himself up in the 11th position in the race’s closing laps.

A wild finish would see the checkered flag fly with a car getting over in front of the field, and when the dust settled Ashe would come home with an 11th place finish.

“It was a fun two nights of racing, and again I can’t thank everyone on this team who supports me enough for everything they do,” Ashe added.

Lucas Ashe Racing would like to thank Jester Auto Museum and Event Center, SALCO Inc., Lucas Oil, STL Tile, Crown Motors, Logo USA, Triple X Race Co., DMI Components, VSR, Factory QRC, Shaver Racing Engines, Rod End Supply, Fat Cat Propane, and Justeson Farms for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Starts- 3, Wins-0, Top-5’s-0, Top-10’s-2
