Macedo 6th in SCCT Season Finale

HG7A3267

PETERSEN MEDIA- With Mother Nature delaying the SCCT season finale a week, plans were shifted and Cole Macedo found himself back in the seat of the potent Tarton Motorsports No. 21x on Saturday night in Stockton, CA where he would score a sixth place finish.

“I have never really ran well at Stockton, so I didn’t go into Saturday’s event with a ton of confidence,” Cole Macedo said. “Fortunately Paul Baines, and my dad gave me a great car and we were fast all night long, and came away with a great finish.”

Timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino backed No. 21x machine in fastest in his qualifying group, the Lemoore, CA youngster would finish second in his heat race and punch his ticket to both the Dash and the feature event.

Finishing seventh in the Dash, Macedo would line up for the 35-lap feature event in the fourth row on a racing surface that stayed really good, and fast, all night long. When the action came to life, Macedo found himself in the seventh position in the initial laps until moved into sixth on the race’s 10th lap.

Sitting in sixth when the race’s first caution flew, the ensuing restart would see him jump up to fourth only to see the caution flag waive and negate his strong move. When the green was displayed again, he would slip back to the seventh position until another caution flag was needed.

This restart would see the young gasser again get a good jump as he worked into the fifth spot but a slight mistake saw him give up the track position as he fell back to seventh.

Slipping as far back as the ninth position, Macedo would use a few double file restarts to make up some lost ground as he surged back up to sixth on the 27th lap where he would go on to close out his 2017 season.

“It was nice having my brother Carson there coaching me as well,” Macedo said. “We definitely had a strong car, but I just made some mistakes like getting my wing to bar and getting the car too tight. I am extremely thankful to the Tarlton’s for giving me this chance, and I am looking forward to hitting the gym this winter and getting ready for 2018.”

The Tarlton Motorsports team would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2017 season.
