PETERSEN MEDIA- Saturday night at Calistoga Speedway, Cole Macedo captured his first career Civil War Series pres. by Flowmaster Championship as he scored a second place finish during the series’ final event of 2018.

“I really owe everything to the Tarlton’s,” Macedo said. “They provided me a great opportunity and this team gave me a fast car night in and night out. It feel pretty cool to be the Civil War Series Champion.”

Timing the Tarlton and Son, Inc/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Elite Landscape Construction No. 21x machine in third quickest in qualifying time trials, the Lemoore, CA wheelman would finish second in his heat race to Rico Abreu.

Earning a spot in the redraw, Macedo would find himself with the one pill and on the pole of the 20-lap feature event as he looked to cap his title with his first career series win.

Starting alongside Willie Croft, Macedo would get a nice jump as the duo ran neck and neck through turns one and two and down the back stretch. With Croft able to get a run in three and four, Macedo would settle into second as he chased after the leader on the rubber down surface.

Doing the smart thing, Macedo kept his tires underneath him with rubber down early in this race. Letting Croft get away as he was mindful of the conditions, Macedo tried to buy some time.

When the checkered flag flew, Macedo would finish in the second position to cap off a great season with the Civil War Series.

“I tried to be smart about my tires and it almost paid off as Willie (Croft) shredded his left rear just after the checkered,” Macedo said. “I really want to win one of these deals bad and I know we have the car that can do it. I have to thank the entire Tarlton family, Paul Baines, my dad, and my family for all they do for me.”

The Tarlton Motorsports team would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Yokut Gas, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2018 season.
