PETERSEN MEDIA- During the World of Outlaws West Coast Swing Carson Macedo made his presence known. That trend continued on Saturday night as Macedo closed out his spring swing with “The Greatest Show on Dirt” with his third consecutive Top-10 finish as he came home in the seventh position.

“I kind of had a couple of bad late race restarts that knocked us out of the Top-Five, but Paul Baines and my guys gave me another really fast racecar,” Carson Macedo said.

A total of 37 cars checked into Bakersfield Speedway to take part in the Spring California Swing finale, and Macedo kicked things off on Saturday night by timing the Elite Landscape Construction/Executive Auto Sales/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino backed No. 21x machine in 26th quickest in qualifying time trials.

Though behind the eight ball a bit early in the night, Macedo and the Tarlton Motorsports team went to work and made some great adjustments heading into heat race action. Lining up seventh in his heat, the Lemoore, CA driver was on kill as he carved his way from the fourth row and managed to finish in third changing the outlook of his night in a big way.

With heat race finishes lining drivers up for the feature event, Macedo’s run to third was huge as it placed him in the fifth row for the 35-lap ‘A’ Main event.

On a racy bullring in the feature event, Macedo continued to run well against some of the best in the business just as he had done the two previous weeks. Making some big moves against some big names, the former King of the West Champion found himself in the fourth position late in the race chasing after Jason Johnson, and Sheldon Haudenschild, as he battled with Shane Stewart for position.

In the race’s closing laps a couple of scattered yellows would bunch the field up in double file formation, and a couple of tough restarts would see Macedo lose a little bit of track position.

Though he slipped back a little, Macedo was still able to hold his own and close a tough stretch out with a seventh place finish.

“That heat race we were able to have was huge,” Macedo added. “We had a bad qualifying run, but the format gives you an opportunity to make up for it in your heat and luckily for us we were able to make it happen. I have to thank Tom Tarlton and everyone with Tarlton Motorsports for providing me a great opportunity with great equipment.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2018 season.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 3, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 2, Top 10’s: 3.

ON TAP: Macedo and Tarlton Motorsports will go over some schedules and make a decision on their next race in the coming days.
