PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting to action with the King of the West Series now that the World of Outlaws are out of the Golden State, Carson Macedo put on a show at Kern County Raceway Park on Saturday night that saw him finish in the second spot.

“We had a really good night,” Carson Macedo said. “Paul Baines gave me an awesome car, and we got battling up front and we were right there contending for the win at the end of the night.”

In the tracks first ever sprint car race, Macedo would adapt nicely to the 1/3 mile oval in Bakersfield, CA as he timed the Elite Landscape Construction/Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino/Tarlton and Son, Inc. machine in 11th fastest in qualifying time trials.

Starting on the front row of his heat race, the former series champion would get the jump and lead all 10-lap en route to the win. With the win, the Lemoore, CA driver punched his ticket into the Dash though the inversion would place him in the ninth and final starting position.

On a track that was even more racy during the Dash, Macedo was able to move around and pick up valuable positions and improve his starting position in the feature event. Finishing fourth, Macedo would take the green flag for the season opening event from the second row.

An immaculately prepared surface greeted the star-studded field of cars for the 30-lap feature event, and action could be found all over the track. Running in the top-three for much of the feature event, Macedo would find himself battling with the likes of Kyle Hirst, Cory Eliason, and Bud Kaeding as they all chased down Willie Croft.

Getting into a very torrid battle with Eliason late in the race for the second spot, Macedo would end up falling back to third, but would capitalize on Croft’s late race misfortune and finish in the second spot.

“We got to battling for second late in the race, and it really let the leader get away,” Macedo added. “It was a fun race, and it is nice to be up on the podium. I really have to thank my Uncle Tom, and this team for the great car.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2017 season.

BY THE NUMBERS: Races: 9, Wins: 0, Top 5’s: 0, Top 10’s: 1.
