PETERSEN MEDIA- Lemoore, CA pilot, Carson Macedo thrilled onlookers at the Ocean Speedway on Friday night as he charged from his 14th starting position to finish in the third spot with the Taco Bravo Series.
‘I qualified pretty bad, but Paul Baines and everyone kept my head up and gave me a great car, and it ended up being an awesome night,” Carson Macedo said.
Timing in 15th fastest, Macedo would miss the heat race inversion, though would still manage to score a fourth place finish in heat race action, putting his WFO Apparel/Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son entry in the feature event, where he would line up in the seventh row.
When the green flag dropped, Macedo quickly showed his hand, as he was on a rail as he carved his way through traffic like a seasoned veteran. Finding himself in the fifth spot fairly quickly, Macedo looked for more, as he chased after drivers like Andy Forsberg, Shane Golobic, and Justin Sanders, who all ran ahead of him.
Getting up to the fourth spot as the laps wound down, Macedo stayed in striking distance as he rode close to Sanders as they both watched a furious battle ahead of them between Forsberg and Golobic.
With the white flag in the air, Macedo had a front row seat to the exciting three car battle for the top spot. Entering turn four, Golobic would lose the handle, and Macedo was in prime position to capitalize as he quickly took advantage, and closed his night out with a third place hard charge.
“We were awesome in the feature event,” Macedo said. “We were not really sure how the track was going to wear, and it went slick really fast, and we had a great set up for it. I can’t thank this team enough, they do the hard work, and I am just fortunate enough to drive a great car.”
