PETERSEN MEDIA- Making a mistake while working his way through the field on Saturday night at the Johnny Key Classic, Carson Macedo would rebound to finish 10th at the Ocean Speedway with the Civil War Series.

“We had a great car on Saturday night, one that I think could have contended for the win, but I made a mistake,” Carson Macedo said. “I have to thank Paul Baines and the guys for their hard work, and apologize to them as well.”

Looking for one of 19 available spots in the 50-lap feature event on Saturday night at the Ocean Speedway, Carson Macedo would time the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales No. 21x machine in fifth fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race, Macedo would settle into the second spot as his finish would put him in the fifth row of the 50-lap Johnny Key Classic A Main event.

Working his way up to the sixth spot during the first nine laps, Macedo would have a great restart, and as he worked up as high as the fourth spot. Looking for more, Macedo would enter three and four on the cushion too hot, and as he got over the curb, he saved his machine from getting upside down, though he would bring out the caution and be forced to the back of the pack.

After making a quick trip to the work area, the Lemoore, CA driver would continue to show he had a very strong racecar, as he worked his way back up to the 12 spot over the next 14 laps as the red flag waived at the halfway point for the intermission.

With his team continuing to get his car better for the final segment, Macedo would work up into the Top-10 in the first few laps, as passing would start to dwindle away as rubber became a factor.

Making sure to find the rubber, Macedo would do just that as laps continued to click off. In the final laps, Macedo would make sure to stay in the rubber and keep his competitors at bay as he closed his night out with his 13th Top-10 finish of the season.

“I am still mad at myself for squandering a great opportunity, but it is something to learn from,” Macedo said. “I am very proud to be a part of this team, and am thankful for my family and my crew for standing behind me and keeping me focused on nights like this.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2015 season.
