Macedo Runs Second in Rare Appearance at Keller Auto Speedway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Wintry weather in the south forced cancellations of the scheduled World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car races opening the door for Carson Macedo to make a rare appearance at Keller Auto Speedway in Hanford, CA. Piloting a potent Tarlton Motorsports entry, Macedo would go toe-to-toe with Shane Golobic ultimately coming up just short of a win and finishing second on Saturday night.

“First and foremost, I want to thank the Tarlton’s and Paul Baines for getting a car ready and allowing me to race with a few cancelations in my Outlaw schedule,” Carson Macedo said. “We had a great car, and I am just bummed I made a mistake that cost us a win.”

With 41 cars taking part in the season opening event in California, Macedo got off to a great start as he timed the Tarlton and Son, Inc./Executive Auto Sales/EZ Haul backed No. 21 machine in fastest in his qualifying group.

Finishing third in heat race competition, Macedo moved into the Dash where a third-place finish lined him up in the second row to start he 30-lap feature event.

When the race went green front row starter Joel Myers, Jr would get sideways in front of the field. With cars taking evasive action to avoid him, Macedo would have an opening to jump into the race lead.

Looking very strong out front, Macedo would set a nice pace so though would soon feel pressure from Shane Golobic. With Golobic able to get in front of Macedo, a yellow would then fly and put the Lemoore, CA driver on the leader’s rear bumper.

When the action picked back up, Macedo was able to get the Tarlton Motorsports entry wound up and back out in front as he would soon find himself in lapped traffic.

With traffic in play, Macedo would look for a way by a slower car in the race’s waning laps, but as he we would execute a pass, he would actually slide up to the cushion with too much momentum and slip off the racing surface.

The slip up would allow Golobic by with just a few laps left in the race as Macedo would see him get away as he got back up to speed and settled back into second.

Dealing with Tim Kaeding for the runner up position in the final laps, Macedo was able to hold him off and claim second at the stripe.

‘Again, thanks to Paul and the Tarlton’s for allowing me to go racing, I just wish I could have given them a win,” Macedo said.”

Tarlton Motorsports would like to thank Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, EZ Haul, All Star Performance, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2021 season.

ON TAP: The next race for Tarlton Motorsports is not yet decided at this time.
