PETERSEN MEDIA- Showing great speed during the Gold Cup Race of Champions, Carson Macedo would pick up a Top-10 finish with the World of Outlaws while also dealing with some bad luck.

“We were really fast all weekend long, but it was just one of those weekends you hope you never have as a racecar driver,” Carson Macedo said. “Paul Baines and the crew gave me a great car every night, but we don’t have anything to show for it.”

Macedo’s week of racing got underway on Wednesday night as he took on the California Civil War Series. 50 cars would check into the pit area, and Macedo would get off to a nice start as he timed the Elite Landscape Construction/Tarlton and Son Inc./Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino No. 21x machine in second fastest.

Finishing third in heat race competition, the Lemoore, CA wheelman would finish eighth in the Dash putting him in the fourth row of the 30-lap A Main event.

Scorching heat made for an extremely slick surface in the feature event, and the surface would take rubber almost as soon as the race got underway. Able to make some early moves, Macedo would work up into the fourth spot.

Abusing his tires a bit to get moving forward, Macedo would lose a tire in the closing laps, and would wind up finishing in the 18th spot.

Dropping a 410ci power plant into the frame rails of his Executive Auto Sales/Pabco Gypsum/Bandy And Associates entry to take on the World of Outlaws, Macedo would time in fourth fastest in his qualifying flight.

Having some trouble in his heat race, the former World of Outlaw feature event winner would end up being scored ninth.

Picking up the B main win from his fifth starting position, Macedo would line up 11th for the 30-lap A main. Making some nice moves, and racing wheel-to-wheel with some of the top drivers in the country, Macedo would salvage his night as he picked up a 10th place finish.

The Saturday finale would see Macedo time in sixth fastest before again having trouble in his heat race.

Lining up on the front row of the B, Macedo would jump out to the early lead only to have a mechanical issue bring his Gold Cup to an early end.

“It was nice to earn a Top-10 with the World of Outlaws, but I think we had enough speed to run even better then we did,” Macedo said. “I made some mistakes that cost us, but hopefully it is something that I can learn from. I really have to again thank the Tarlton family for continuing to let me drive their car.”

Tarlton Racing would like to thank Elite Landscape Construction, Tarlton and Son, Inc., Executive Auto Sales, Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino, Pabco Gypsum, Bandy and Associates, All Star Performance, Corporate America Investments, and BG Lubricants for their support through the 2015 season.

ON TAP: Macedo and his Tarlton Racing team will be back with the King of the West Series on Saturday night in Hanford, CA.
