Mad Man Runs Second at Krikke Boys Shootout

PETERSEN MEDIA- Heading to the Quit Bunbury Speedway over the weekend for his final race of the year in Australia, the Krikke Boys Shootout, Kerry Madsen and his Keneric Racing/American Racing team had a very strong showing as he recorded a second place finish in the finale.
“We were really strong all weekend, and it is great to podium during both nights of the Krikke Boys Shootout,” Madsen said. “My guys worked hard, and we were in a good position during both races.”
Kicking things off on Saturday night, Madsen continued his strong qualifying efforts that he has displayed thus far in 2015 as he was the quick time qualifier, before finishing third in his heat race.
Scoring a fourth place finish in the ‘A’ Dash, Madsen would line up in the fourth row of the feature event, and start from the seventh position. As fans have seen him do so many times, Madsen was able to carefully navigate his way through the field, and score a third place finish in the preliminary night feature event, and escape the event points lead heading into the finale.
Sunday night saw Madsen take advantage of his front row starting position in his heat race as he soared to the heat race win, placing him in the dash. Hitting the track in the final group of four in the dash, Madsen would pick up the win and start on the pole for the 35-lap feature event.
Starting on the front row of the race alongside Brooke Tatnell, Madsen would slip into the second spot as he chased after Brooke Tatnell. Reeling Tatnell in, Madsen would take the lead in lapped traffic and pull away until the red flew on the 12th lap.
Back underway, Madsen and Tatnell would battle up front, and with just a few laps remaining, Tatnell got under Madsen to take the lead, and despite a valiant effort to take the lead back, Madsen would cross the stripe in the second position.
“It is definitely a race that you want to win, and I just could not take advantage of some opporutnites,” Madsen said. “I really have to thank the Gavranich family, as well as Dan Ricehouse and everyone at American Racing Wheels for their outstanding support.”
2015 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-21, Wins-6, Top-5’s-16, Top 10’s-18
ON TAP: Madsen will now head back to the United States to resume the 2015 World of Outlaws schedule Wednesday night at the Las Vegas Dirt Track in Las Vegas, NV.
