Madsen 9th at I55 Raceway

PETERSEN MEDIA- Spending the weekend near St. Louis, MO racing at I55 Raceway with the World of Outlaws, Ian Madsen and KCP Racing would put a tough Friday night behind them before picking up a 9th place finish during Saturday night’s event.

“Friday night we passed a lot of cars in our non-qualifier, but we just put ourselves in too deep of a hole early in the night,” Madsen said. “Saturday night we timed in better and put ourselves in a better position to have good night.”

With 63 cars in the pit area, Madsen’s Friday night qualifying effort put him behind the eight ball and in one of the two non-qualifier events. Coming from the back of the pack, Madsen would get all the way up to third, but with only the top two finishers moving on, his night would come to an early end.

Bouncing back for a night of racing on Saturday, Madsen would time in 10th fastest in his qualifying flight. Amidst an extremely strong field of cars in his heat race, Madsen would finish fifth and move directly into the 40-lap feature event.

Lining up in the 20th on the starting grid, Madsen would have a very strong car underneath him that allowed for him to work through the field. The slick surface allowed for numerous passing lines, and Madsen was able to slice and dice his way towards the Top-10.

When the fast and furious 40-lap affair came to a close, Madsen capped his night with a ninth-place finish, giving KCP Racing their eighth Top-10 of the 2020 season.

“We really had an awesome car on Saturday night, we just killed ourselves having to start that deep in the field,” Madsen said. “If we can get our qualifying better, that sets our nights up completely different, and I think we can win a lot of races with how good we get our car come feature time.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, , Ted’s Body Shop, Team Excavating, Cox Design and Fabrication, TammyHeckart.com, Quality Traffic Control, BergenKDV, and BK Racing Titanium for their support this season.
