PETERSEN MEDIA- With Mother Nature wreaking havoc all over the country this past weekend, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team were forced to change their schedule up as they made the trip to the I 80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE on Saturday night were the St. Marys, NSW pilot picked up a second place finish.

“It was another good night for our KCP Racing team, and I really like where we are so early in the season,” Ian Madsen explained. “We led early in the feature event, but Dusty Zomer found the rubber before I did and we ended up second.”

Lining his Logan Contractors Supply Inc./Aspen Aire/Kline Electric backed machine up on the front row of his heat race, Madsen took care of business as he worked around the slicked off speedway to pick up the win and secure a prime starting position in the NE Sprint Cars feature event.

Gridding the field from the second row aboard his KCP Racing entry, Madsen was hard on the throttle as he quickly jumped into the lead on a track that was racy early in the feature.

The slick surface would become extremely abrasive as the laps clicked off and this would give second running, Dusty Zomer, the advantage as he chased after Madsen. With Zomer able to search and find the rubber, he was able to get a run and drop Madsen into the second spot.

Finding the rubber himself, the Iowa resident would drop to the second spot as he stalked Zomer and hoped for a slip up. Making sure to not make any mistakes himself, Madsen would challenge Zomer on a couple of occasions but essentially stayed in line as he took the checkered in the second spot.

“Sometimes it is better to be in second when the track is on the verge of rubber, and we congratulate him and his team,” Madsen said. “I think we had a great car, definitely a race winning piece, but we take our second place finish and look forward to the Knoxville opener this week. I have to thank everyone involved on this team for allowing us to be a strong contender night in and night out.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, Bergen Paulsen, Coverage Direct, Lucas Oil, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
