PETERSEN MEDIA- With the World of Outlaws making their first trip to the Port Royal Speedway since the 2004 season, Kerry Madsen put together a very strong night, as he recorded a fourth place finish with the series, as he sits fourth in the standings with just two races left on the schedule.

“It was really a good night overall for this entire Keneric Racing/American Racing team,” Madsen said. “We had some really good speed out of the box, and the end result was a top-five.”

With 40 cars checked into the pit area for the series’ last race of the year in the Keystone State, Madsen flexed his muscles, as he timed his No. 29 machine in second fastest.

Starting and finishing in the fourth spot during his heat race, the St. Marys, NSW driver transferred into the dash, where the ‘0’ inversion pill put him on the front row of the race alongside quick time qualifier, Lucas Wolfe.

Finishing second to Wolfe, the duo would lead the field to green, as Madsen got the jump and led the first two circuits, only to see the race’s lone caution waive, erasing his early advantage.

The ensuing restart saw Wolfe get the jump over ‘The Mad Man’, but Madsen would not go away, as he continue to stalk to race leader, as he stayed in striking distance.

As Madsen looked to make a bid for the race lead, Ryan Smith made a move on Madsen, as Madsen slipped back to the third spot. Working the top of the speedway, Madsen admittedly stayed up too long, as Donny Schatz was able to by him, as he found himself in the fourth spot when he moved down the speedway.

“I worked the top a little too long, and left the door open for Smith and Schatz to get by me,” Madsen said. “We were really good, I just made a couple of mistakes.”

As the laps clicked off with no interruptions, Madsen would come across the stripe with a fourth place finish.

“Top-Five finishes are great with the Outlaws, and it was just another great night for us,” Madsen said. “This entire season has been fantastic, and we are excited to get some of our sponsors as well as our car owners to the track in Charlotte to end the season.”

2014 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-94, Wins-9, Top-5’s-48, Top 10’s-72

ON TAP: Madsen his team will now head to the Charlotte Dirt Track on Nov 6-8th for the World Finals.
