PETERSEN MEDIA- Getting back to the NSL schedule over the weekend, Ian Madsen would finish in the second spot on Friday night at the Fairmont Raceway before finishing fifth during a make up race at the Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night, making it four consecutive Top-Five finishes with the NSL Series.

“We were disappointed with our Nationals performance, so we really wanted to come out strong over the weekend, and I think we did,” Ian Madsen said.

Taking part in 410 racing’s returning to the Fairmont Raceway in Fairmont, MN on Friday night, Madsen would set a new track record during time trials aboard the Nehring Construction/Kline Electric/Logan Contractors Supply No. 18 machine.

Lining up in the second row of his heat race, the St Marys, NSW driver would finish in the second spot before picking up a second place finish in the night’s Dash.

Gridding the field from the front row for the 25-lap feature event, Madsen would settle into the second spot as he chased after Danny Lasoski, pressuring him as traffic became a factor, the race’s lone caution would fly on the ninth lap.

Back underway, Madsen would continue his pursuit of the race leader, but was unable to get to him and mount a challenge, and would take the checkered flag in the second spot.

Saturday’s scheduled event would succumb to rain, and the series would take to the Huset’s Speedway on Sunday night for a make-up race. After timing the Greenland Homes of IA/Royal Flooring/Aspen Aire backed No. 18 machine in seventh quickest in time trials, Madsen would again finish second in his heat and earn a spot in the redraw that was in place on this night.

With luck not going his way, Madsen’s representative would pull the eight pill, placing him in the fourth row of the 35-lap feature event.

With the opening laps being plagued by cautions, the final 26-markers would go caution free, and Madsen was able to get moving forward. Racing through traffic, the 2014 Knoxville Raceway Track Champion would move into the fifth spot as he made it four consecutive Top-Five finishes with the series.

“We were really good both nights, and I think we would have had an even better finish had the pill draw gone our way,” Madsen said. “My guys did not get down after our struggles, and we came out strong, and will look to stay strong with the NSL this weekend.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Nehring Construction, Team Kline Electric, Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Greenland Homes of Iowa, Royal Flooring, Aspen Aire Inc.
