PETERSEN MEDIA- Continuing the late Summer West Coast swing, Kerry Madsen and his American Racing/Keneric Racing team battled back from an early flat tire to score a 10th place finish on Saturday night at the Skagit Speedway.

“We had a really good car, but we had a right rear tire go flat during a red flag while we were running in the second spot on the fifth lap,” Madsen said. “We were able to restart and I think we showed how good we were by coming back through to get a Top-10.”

With a new surface down on the Skagit Speedway, and rain in the area saturating the track over the last two weeks a lightening fast surface greeted Madsen and company during time trials, and the St. Marys, NSW driver would earn quick time honors for the ninth time in 2015.

From the second row of his heat race, Madsen showed he had a very strong American Racing/Keneric Racing machine as he surged his way forward to a second place finish and moved into the night’s Dash.

A fourth place finish in the Dash with line Madsen up in the second row of the feature event. With the initial start being waived off, Madsen would jump into the second spot when the race finally went green, and would chase after Shane Stewart.

The red flag would waive on the fifth lap, and while stopped on the front stretch Madsen’s right-rear tire would go down and he would be forced into the work area to make changes.

From the back of the pack, Madsen was able to work his American Racing Custom Wheels backed No. 29 machine around the rough and tumble surface as he would rebound to score a 10th place finish at the line.

“With the track rough, it is a little hairy in the back of the pack with cars bouncing around and going every which way,” Madsen added. “Fortunately we were able to avoid a couple of incidents and work our way back forward. I have to thank my guys for their hard work, as well as the Gavranich family back in Australia and everyone at American Racing for their continued support.”
