PETERSEN MEDIA- Returning to the Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday night for the Texas Outlaw Nationals, Kerry Madsen overcame a slow start as he would finish in the ninth spot with the ‘Greatest Show on Dirt’.

“We had a really quick car at the end of the race,” Madsen said. “We went with a harder tire, and that hurt us at the start of the race, and just lost too much ground.”

With a nasty storm blowing through the Dallas/Fort Worth area on Friday, the two-night event was shortened to a single day program, and when the action finally came to life, Madsen would time the Keneric Racing/American Racing No. 29 in 12th fastest.

Lining up on the front row of his heat race alongside JoJo Helberg, Madsen would get a great jump, to take the lead and never look back, as he would race his way to the win, and earn a spot in the night’s dash.

With the four pill being drawn for the inversion, Madsen would line up in the eighth spot, and race his way forward to finish in the sixth spot, putting him in the third row for the 30-lap feature event.

After some lengthy track work, the race would come to life, and Madsen would have some issues moving forward, as he slowly drifted back through the field. Slipping back as far as the 12th spot, ‘The Mad Man’ would get going the right direction, as the laps clicked off.

Getting back into the Top-10, the St Marys, NSW pilot would get back up to the ninth spot as the checkered flag waived.

“The track was tricky, and we were trying to make sure we had enough tire to make it to the end of the night,” Madsen said. “Overall, the boys did a great job, and we got out of there with a Top-10.”
