Madsen Picks Up Two More World of Outlaws Top-10’s

PETERSEN MEDIA- With the grueling schedule World of Outlaw schedule wasting no time following the Knoxville Nationals, Kerry Madsen and his Keneric Racing/American Racing were back in action for three nights last week, and continued to show consistency as the team picked up two Top-10 finishes including a fifth place run at the Junction Motor Speedway.
“It was good to get a couple of Top 10’s last week,” Madsen said. “We had a little bit of bad luck, but we will now look I forward to heading out West and into Canada.”
Kicking the action off at the Junction Motor Speedway on Tuesday night with the World of Outlaws, Madsen opened the night up by timing in fourth fastest.
Following a fourth place finish in both his heat race and the dash, Madsen lined up for the feature event in the second row.
On a track that saw passing at a premium, ‘The Mad Man’, was spent most of his race mixing it up with Kraig Kinser and Brad Sweet. Battling inside the Top-Five, Madsen was able to cross the stripe in the fifth spot, giving him his 38th Top-5 of the season.
Heading to Grand Forks, ND on Friday night, Madsen and company took to the River Cities Speedway where the night started out with an eight quickest effort in time trials.
Finishing third in heat race action, Madsen transferred to the feature event, where he lined up in the sixth row for the 40-lap main event.
The feature got off to a rough start as Madsen got over in turn, four, but was able to make a stop in the work area to make repairs.
As his team thrashed, repairs were made and Madsen was able to tag the rear of the field, and slowly work his way forward.
In what was a wild feature event, Madsen was able to rebound from the early wreck with a 13th place finish.
Sunday night brought the series to the Nodak Speedway in Minot, ND and Madsen stopped the clock with the ninth fastest lap in time trials.
Following a second place finish in his heat, Madsen gridded the field from the fifth row.
With a rain shower moving into the area prior to the feature event hitting the track, track workers re worked the track as much as they could, but the added moisture made for a very fast surface.
On a track that was both narrow and fast, Madsen was able to stay inside the Top-10 and finish ninth.
“We had a little misfortune with a wreck, and then on Sunday the track was pretty tough, but it was still a good week, and like I said, we will keep digging,” he added.
2014 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-72, Wins-8, Top-5’s-38, Top 10’s-56
ON TAP: Madsen and his Keneric Racing team will head north of the border this weekend as they will be in action on the 22nd-23rd at the Castrol Raceway for the Oil City Cup.
