PETERSEN MEDIA- Fresh off of an extended stint in his native Australia during the American offseason, Ian Madsen and his KCP Racing team recorded an eighth place finish with the World of Outlaws during the series’ annual spring stop in Sin City.

“We definitely struggled the first night, but we made some huge gains on Friday night and really had a good night overall,” Ian Madsen explained. “The guys did a fantastic job getting everything built while I competed in Australia, and we are all looking forward to the year ahead.”

After a subpar night on Thursday night, Madsen came back on Friday night and timed the Logan Contractors Supply/Kline Electric/Aspen Aire No. 18 machine in seventh fastest amongst the 36 cars checked in the pit area during qualifying time trials.

With no heat race inversion in World of Outlaws action in 2016, the St. Marys, NSW native lined the Royal Flooring/Speck USA/Bobcat backed entry up on the front row of his heat race, and ran second to his rival, Brian Brown.

Earning a spot in the Dash, Madsen would grid the field from the fourth row for the six-lap shootout, before a seventh place finish again placed him in the fourth row for the feature event.

A good start to the A Main saw the 2014 Knoxville Raceway Track Champion surge into the Top-Five as he raced wheel-to-wheel with some of the best drivers the World of Outlaws have to offer.

Maneuvering around the slicked off ½ mile speedway, Madsen would jockey for position with Daryn Pittman and Bryan Clauson as they raced in a tight pack. As the race drew to a close, Madsen found himself in the eighth spot, where he would go on to finish.

“It was good to rebound on Friday and show some pretty good speed,” Madsen said. “Everyone at KCP Racing has put in a lot of time and effort to building this team up year after year, and we have some great partners on board with us, so we are really looking forward to putting a good product on the track night in and night out.”

Ian and his KCP Racing team would like to thank Logan Contractors Supply Inc., Aspen Aire, Team Kline Electric, Royal Flooring, Bobcat, TammyHeckart.com, Caliber Iowa, Quality Traffic Control, Flatrate, Inc., Speck USA, and Revolution Race Gear for their support this season.
